Rental Property Maintenance and Housing Occupancy Ordinance
The annual license fee per residential rental unit is $200 per year. Completed application and fee are due by January 31 annually.
The license will be valid for one year. Licenses will be e-mailed following receipt of completed application and fee. Late fees will be imposed at $50 per unit if the completed application and fee are not received by January 31.
Inspections are carried out once every two years. If your rental unit was not inspected during 2023, it will need inspected in 2024. Contact the Township office to schedule a date and time for your bi-annual inspection once the application and license fee have been submitted to the township office.
Tenant change? If the tenant changes, a Tenant Change Application needs to be completed and provided to the Township Office along with a fee of $85 for a new tenant inspection.
The Township accepts payment of cash, check, credit card, or money order. Checks made payable to Spring Garden Township. Credit card payments are accepted in office only.

Completed applications are to include current tenant names and move-in dates, property owner information, and point of contact information if the property owner resides more than 20-miles from the rental address. Postal service delays have made it necessary to do more business via email to ensure deadlines are met. We hope to do more business by email now and in the future. - Application reminders will not be sent in 2024.
It is your responsibility to submit the completed application and return it with the license fee (per unit) before January 31 of each year. Download and complete the application found on the Township’s website.
- The rental license fee for 2024 is $200 per unit.
- If you would like to pay with credit card, you must either call the office or come into the office.
- Late fees will be instituted for the 2024 applications commencing February 1, 2024.
If completed applications and license fees are not post marked by February 1, 2024, please add the $100 late charge per unit to the license cost of $200 per unit ($300 total per unit).
Failure to provide completed application and payment may be issued a violation pertaining to Township Ordinance §165 penalties.
